In a radio interview, DA-Western Visayas information officer James Earl Ogatis explained that because of the spike in the price of fuel, the production cost of agricultural products also increased.

The DA was also preparing the list of farmers who would receive fuel subsidies from the government.

In Western Visayas, there were 3,222 farmers who were expected to receive the subsidy.

Ogati said only corn farmers and fisherfolk were eligible to receive the subsidy since rice farmers and those who were planting high value crops in the region already received assistance given from the government.
