MANILA, Philippines — National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. on Thursday maintained it was immoral for candidates in the coming election to accept the political support of groups linked to the communist movement.
Esperon, as vice chair of the National Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Conflict, called on the Department of Justice (DOJ) to probe organizations associated with communist rebels.
Esperon said, “Any form of alliance between groups associated with the CPP-NPA-NDFP (Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front of the Philippines) and any political party or candidate is still an alliance with the CPP-NPA-NDFP terrorist organization because their front organizations form part and parcel of the so-called ‘revolutionary dual tactics’ by the CPP-NPA-NDFP.” —JEANNETTE I.
