MANILA, Philippines — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) will file a complaint against eight suspects in the disappearance of 31 enthusiasts of e-sabong, or online cockfighting, Lt. Col. Marissa Bruno, CIDG spokesperson, said on Wednesday.
“The CIDG is preparing for the filing of the case against the eight suspects this coming Friday,” Bruno said in a text message written in Filipino.
She did not specify the nature of the complaint.
This developed shortly after Interior Secretary Eduardo Año told President Rodrigo Duterte in a taped briefing aired Wednesday morning that the Philippine National Police (PNP) had already identified the eight suspects.
Meanwhile, the Senate urged the suspension of e-sabong operations during the ongoing investigation. But Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said that operations would continue pending the result of the investigation.
