COVID-free towns in Zambales increases to five

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The number of towns in this province that achieved COVID-19-free status increased to five after two more localities logged zero active COVID-19 cases over the weekend.

Data from the provincial health office on Monday showed that the two remaining virus-infected patients in Palauig town recovered on Saturday, March 12, while the two remaining patients in San Narciso town recovered on Sunday.

The towns of Subic and San Felipe earlier obtained a virus-free status for having no active cases since March 9, while Sta. Cruz town has been virus-free since March 11.

But the number of active infections in the province slightly increased to 24 with the addition of five new cases and four recoveries on Sunday.

The same data showed that the COVID-19 death toll in the province still stood at 652 with no new fatalities in the past four days.

Since 2020, the province has recorded 11,585 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 11,288 recoveries. INQ
