PNP to look into alleged participation of communist rebels in campaign rallies

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) will look into the alleged participation and attendance of communist rebels in campaign rallies.

“We will look at it and submit the report to the president. ‘Yung mga (Those) rallies, statements are the ones—you assess it,” PNP chief General Dionardo Carlos said in a press briefing Monday.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier expressed concern over the weekend on what he alluded to as collusion between communist groups and the opposition.

Duterte likewise said that he cannot guarantee peaceful elections on May 9 as there could be violence which he will not tolerate.

Meanwhile, the Communist Party of the Philippines has earlier denied talks of a coalition government between them and any of the presidential candidates.
