Iloilo City mayor welcomes downgrade to Alert Level 1

ILOILO CITY — Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas welcomed the decision of the national pandemic task force to de-escalate the city’s status to Alert Level 1.

According to Treñas, offices, business establishments, and churches are now allowed to operate at 100% capacity.

“PUJs and restaurants may take down the plastic or acrylic barriers. Malls may allow children to enter without any requirement. S-Pass will no longer be required,” he said.

Acting presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar on Thursday announced that the city will be under Alert Level 1 starting Friday, March 11, until March 15.

Last March 7, the Iloilo City government requested the pandemic task force to reduce its status due to a decrease in COVID-19 cases.
