QCPD: Man named ‘Mary Ann Dela Cruz’ on social media nabbed for rape, robbery
MANILA, Philippines — A 42-year-old man using the moniker “Mary Ann Dela Cruz” on social media, who allegedly robbed and sexually assaulted women, among them minors, has been arrested in Quezon City, police said Wednesday.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspect as Alexander Yu Jr. He was arrested on Monday afternoon outside a mall in Novaliches after he allegedly tried to bribe a 14-year-old girl with a total of P37,000 allowance per month and a brand new smart phone in exchange for three hours of sex.
According to police, the suspect’s social media account name is “Mary Ann Dela Cruz.”
The girl, however, learned through a friend and two other women aged 16 and 18 years old that they also fell victim to “Mary Ann Dela Cruz” – allegedly raped by the suspect and their cellphones stolen.
The two women reported the suspect to authorities. The police then hatched a plan to corner the suspect.
