3 held for rape of 16-year-old student in Nueva Ecija
CABANATUAN CITY—A 16-year-old student in Licab town, Nueva Ecija province was allegedly raped by three suspects, including her boyfriend, during a drinking party last Jan. 9, police said on Monday (Jan. 11).
Col. Marvin Joe Saro, provincial police chief, said the suspects were arrested a few hours after the alleged rape. They would be charged with rape under Republic Act 8353 in relation to RA 7610 or the Child Abuse law.
The suspects, aged 19-24, are all residents of San Cristobal village in Licab.
Investigators said the suspects took advantage of the victim when she was “already intoxicated.” The men took turns raping the girl, police said.
Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, Central Luzon regional director, attributed the arrest of the suspects to the immediate reporting of the crime.
“Due to quick police reporting, we were able to locate and arrest the suspects promptly and the necessary police action was conducted,” De Leon said.
