Man wanted for over 1,000 counts of rape nabbed in Catanduanes
LEGAZPI CITY––A 63-year-old man facing 1,487 counts of rape and statutory rape was arrested Wednesday by police at his residence in Caramoran town in Catanduanes province, a report said Thursday.
Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said the police could not release the suspect’s identity and the victims’ names in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
The report said operatives armed with a warrant of arrest swooped down around 1 p.m. at the suspect’s residence in a village of the town.
Calubaquib said the suspect was tagged as rank one Regional Most Wanted Person for charges of multiple counts of rape at the Regional Trial Court Branch 42 under Judge Genie Gapas-Agbada.
Court records indicate that the suspect was accused of 437 counts of rape and 1,050 counts of statutory rape in four criminal cases victimizing children and women.
