MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) south of Zamboanga City will bring rain in the southern portion of Palawan and in Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Wednesday.
According to Pagasa, the LPA was last spotted 45 kilometers south of Zamboanga City as of 3 a.m.
“Nananatili itong mababa ang tsansa na maging bagyo at dahil sa LPA, nakakaranas tayo ng maulap na kalangitan na may mga pag-ulan sa bahagi ng Mindanao, Visayas at ganoon din sa southern portion ng Palawan,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in a weather forecast.
(This LPA still has a low chance of developing into a storm but it is causing cloudy skies with rain in Mindanao, Visayas, and in the southern portion of Palawan.)
Meanwhile, Aurelio said that the shearline, or the convergence of cold and warm winds, is affecting the eastern Visayas. He added that the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, affects Luzon and the rest of Visayas.
Based on Pagasa’s forecast, the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains in Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
