Sen. Manny Pacquiao on Thursday urged about 3,000 Christian pastors and their followers in Lingayen, Pangasinan, to shun thieves and the corrupt and vote only God-fearing leaders into office.

Pacquiao spoke on Thursday at a prayer gathering at the Lingayen provincial capitol training center reminding participants to avoid repeating the mistake of electing thieves.

He urged Pangasinenses to learn from the lessons of the past and vote for righteous leaders who believe in God.

“I know that there are a few among you who would not vote for me. If that’s your decision, don’t vote for thieves and instead choose God-fearing candidates,” Pacquiao said in Filipino.

The presidential candidate further asked participants in the prayer gathering to join him in fighting corruption.

“There’s only one reason for poverty in the country and that’s corruption. I urge you to be part of this fight against corruption,” he said.
