Train hits, kills construction worker

A construction worker was killed after being hit by a Manila-bound train  while walking along the train tracks in Malabon before dawn on Saturday.

The Muntinlupa Police identified the victim as Nelson Varona, 45, a resident of Barangay Sto. Cristo, Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Police said Varona was walking along the tracks of the Philippine National Railways near Kelly Compound, Barangay Ilaya, Muntinlupa, at around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday when the incident happened.

A Bicol Express Train, with body number 611-612, heading for Tayuman in Manila, suddenly hit the victim. He was rushed to the Ospital ng Muntinlupa, but was pronounced dead at around 8:30 a.m. due to massive injuries.
