MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported 3,050 new COVID-19 cases in the country.
According to the DOH, it was the lowest single day tally since the start of the year. The new reported cases brought the total caseload in the Philippines to 3,637,280.
Of the 3,050 reported cases on Sunday, 3,010 or 99 percent occurred within the recent 14 days (January 31 – February 13).
The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were Metro Manila (556 or 18 percent), Region 6 (367 or 12 percent) and Region 4-A (311 or 10 percent).
Of the total number of cases, 2.2 percent or 81,394 are tagged as “active cases,” with 94 percent having mild or no symptoms at all.
The number of recoveries also crossed the 3.5 million mark with 5,811 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,500,956, or 96.3 percent of all cases.
No new COVID-19 deaths were reported on Sunday due to technical issues. The DOH said the country’s death toll still stands at 54,930 or 1.51 percent of all cases.
“The zero death reported today is due to technical issues in extracting data from COVIDKaya. This has been coordinated with the DICT and rest assured that they are currently addressing this issue,” the DOH said.
Meanwhile, the worldwide caseload now stands at 410.2 million including 5.8 million deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
