2 motorcyclists yield marijuana, knife in Lucena checkpoint

LUCENA CITY – Two motorcycle riders who were caught evading a police checkpoint here on Saturday night yielded marijuana and a bladed weapon.

Lucena police in a report said John Errioll Cuenza, 20, was driving his motorcycle with Maynard Tamayo, 19, as back-rider, when the two ignored the police checkpoint in Barangay (village) Dalahican around 9:40 p.m.

After a brief chase, the police cornered the riders.

During the routine frisking, authorities found Cuenza carrying a fan knife (balisong) and a glass tube containing suspected marijuana residue.

Tamayo yielded a plastic sachet of marijuana, report said.

The two were detained and are facing corresponding criminal charges.
