LUCENA CITY––Two motorcycle-riding drug suspects were arrested Sunday when they yielded shabu (crystal meth) after a brief chase with police manning a Commission on Election (Comelec) checkpoint in Tuy town in Batangas province.

The Batangas police said in a report that while traveling at 10:50 p.m., Mark John Mauricio, 37, and Jeffrey España, 36, disregarded the Comelec checkpoint in Barangay Luntal.

The police chased and cornered the two riders who failed to produce their drivers’ licenses.

During the routine frisking, the police found two sachets of shabu inside the pocket and in a sling pouch of the suspects.

The suspects were detained and faced charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and election laws.
