PH receives US donation of 3.4 million Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses

MANILA, Philippines — Over 3.4 million doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, donated by the United States, arrived in the country on Thursday.

The National Task Force Against COVID-19 said that the donation of 3,436,290 doses was coursed through the Covax Facility.

The donation arrived via  a Silkway West flight at around 9 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The second batch of 780,000 COVID-19 vaccines for children aged five to 11 were also delivered Thursday evening.

With these shipments, the country has now received 222,449,820 vaccine doses since deliveries commenced in February 2021.

Acting presidential spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles on Tuesday reported that of the delivered doses, 129,125,464 have already been administered.

He added that 60.1 million of the 77-million target population are fully vaccinated against COVID-19

The government kicked off on Thursday the third national vaccination drive which will be conducted until Friday with the target of administering six million COVID-19 vaccine doses.

The government is targeting to fully immunize 90 million individuals by the end of June.
