Informant gets P7.8-M for helping ‘neutralize’ NPA leader in Bukidnon
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Misamis Oriental, Philippines — An informant who helped the military conduct a successful operation against a top New People’s Army (NPA) leader has received a P7.8-million reward.
According to Brig. Gen. Wilbur Mamawag, commander of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division, the bounty was handed to the informant, named only as “Ricky,” by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Feb. 2 inside their headquarters here.
The handover of the bounty was witnessed by Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Andres Centino, he said.
The reward was on account of his help in locating NPA leader Jorge “Ka Oris” Madlos, who was killed in a clash with Army troopers on Oct. 30, 2021, in Impasugong, Bukidnon.
The multimillion-peso reward for Madlos’ capture has been up since 2000.
