Only 877 new COVID-19 cases logged in Metro Manila, says Octa
MANILA, Philippines — Close to 900 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Metro Manila, a fellow of the independent analytics group Octa Research said Sunday.
Citing data from the Department of Health, Octa Research fellow Guido David said that 11 percent or 877 of the 7,689 fresh infections recorded nationwide on February 5 were in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Most of the new infections seen in Metro Manila were in Quezon City.

According to David, the NCR may see pre-surge numbers by the end of February.
“Actuals are back below [January] 20 projections, which means prospects look good for less than 500 in the NCR by [Valentine’s] Day, and perhaps pre surge numbers by end of February,” he said on Twitter.

Before the surge of COVID-19 infections early this year, daily cases were posted below 1,000 cases in December last year.
