Robredo tells supporters: Do not contribute to bashing
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday called on her supporters not to contribute to harmful acts such as bashing because of different viewpoints, saying this angers her.
“Isa ‘yan sa napakalaking frustration ko na dumating tayo sa punto na ‘pag hindi sang-ayon sa ating paniniwala ‘yung ibang tao ay away na agad ‘yung hanap,” she said on DZRH News’ Bakit Ikaw?
(It is one of my frustrations that we reached a point that some people look for a fight when one’s opinion does not agree with another.)
“And ako, everytime nakikiusap ako, lagi ko ‘to sinasabi na—kaya nabuo ‘yung concept ng radical love, kasi ‘di ba ‘pag radikal parang kakaiba—so ‘yung sa ‘kin, kahit na nasasaktan tayo, kahit na nasa receiving end tayo ng masasama, ‘wag na tayo mag-contribute sa kasamaan. Mahirap siya,” added the vice president.
(I, every time, appeal, I always say this—that’s why the concept of radical love was formed because if you’re radical, it seems unique—so, for me, even though we are hurt or at the receiving end of bad acts, let us not contribute to it. It isn’t easy.)

(It is difficult because of the tendency of being defensive and showing that you are right, it seems like it has become our culture.)
“Source siya ng frustration pero at the same time naiintindihan ko kung bakit nangyayari ito—hindi lang sa kampo namin pero sa lahat ng kampo—na ‘yung social media, again, naka-exacerbate dito dahil mayroong platform ‘yung lahat na magpahayag ng gusto nilang sabihin lalo pa dahil marami ngayon, pwede kang sabihin na may anonymity… So na-develop ‘yung culture na irresponsible na minsan ‘yung sinasabi, Robredo explained.
(It is a source of frustration but at the same time, I understand why this happens—not only in our camp—social media, again exacerbated the situation because everyone has a platform to voice out opinions, they can say it with anonymity… So, the culture of irresponsible statements developed.)
Robredo has earlier told her supporters to exercise restraint and do good deeds in pushing for her 2022 presidential bid.
