Woman, 2 kids stabbed to death inside house in Romblon
CITY OF CALAPAN––A woman and her two sons were found dead Wednesday, Jan. 26, inside their house in San Jose town, Romblon province, according to a report from the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police office.
The fatalities were identified as Wielyn Mendoza, 29, and her sons TJ, 9, and JB, 7, of Sitio Upper Hinulugan in Barangay Poblacion.
Major Loreto Maulion, chief of the Regional Public Information Office, said Thursday the victims attended a birthday party at their neighbor’s house and went home about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
At about 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Wilbert Mendoza, a neighbor, went to the victims’ house to check on them and found them dead with multiple stab wounds, prompting him to report the incident to the police around 9 a.m.
Lt. Mark Anthony Encarnacion, San Jose police station officer-in-charge, said the provincial forensic unit had determined the possible points of entry and exit of the suspect or suspects.
The post-mortem examination by the San Jose District Hospital showed that Wielyn had seven stab wounds, while each of her two sons had four stab wounds on different parts of their bodies.

The San Jose police station was considering two “persons of interest.”
The motive for the killing was still being determined.
