Pagasa: LPA may leave PAR on Thursday or Friday

MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) in the vicinity of Negros Oriental may leave the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Thursday or Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Wednesday.

According to Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio, the LPA was last spotted in the vicinity of Tayasan, Negros Oriental as of 3 a.m.

“Nananatili pa rin na mababa ang tsansang maging bagyo itong LPA at inaasahan na ito ay kikilos pakanluran. After sa Western Visayas, dadaan ang LPA sa Sulu Sea at tatawid sa Palawan, at inaasahan na lalabas ng PAR ang LPA pagdating ng Thursday or Friday,” he said in a weather forecast.

(This LPA still has a low chance of becoming a storm. It is expected to move westward. After traversing Western Visayas, the LPA may move towards the Sulu Sea and cross Palawan. It is expected to leave PAR on Thursday or Friday.)

Based on Pagasa’s forecast, the LPA and the shear line, or the or the convergence of winds from amihan and the easterlies, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and Quezon on Wednesday.

The northeast monsoon, meanwhile, is expected to bring cloudy skies with rains in Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, according to Pagasa.

Metro Manila: 22 to 32 degrees Celsius
Baguio City: 15 to 22 degrees Celsius
Laoag City:  22 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 23 to 29 degrees Celsius
Legazpi City: 25 to 29 degrees Celsius
Puerto Princesa City: 23 to 31 degrees Celsius
Tagaytay: 20 to 29 degrees Celsius
Kalayaan Islands: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
Iloilo City: 26 to 28 degrees Celsius
Cebu: 24 to 29 degrees Celsius
Tacloban City: 24 to 28 degrees Celsius
Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius
Zamboanga City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
Davao City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
