Magnitude 5.3 quake hits waters off Davao Oriental
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Sunday recorded a magnitude 5.3 earthquake off the coast of Davao Oriental.
According to the earthquake bulletin released by Phivolcs, the epicenter of the quake was located 98 kilometers (km) east of Manay, Davao Oriental at 2:23 p.m.
State seismologists said that the quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 19 km.
While no damages are expected, Phivolcs warned that aftershocks may occur.
