3 killed, 5 hurt in Masbate shooting

LIGAO CITY — Three were killed and five others were wounded in a shooting incident in Milagros town in Masbate province Saturday night, January 22, police report said Sunday.

The slain victims were identified as Bengie Cataga, Jonel Verona, and Jeddah Raven Dizon.

Wounded were Juanito, Artemio, and Michille, all surnamed Cataga; Nino Rosero; and Felomina Dizon. They are receiving treatment at Masbate provincial hospital.

All dead and wounded victims are related to each other.

Police initial investigation reveals that unidentified gunmen riddled the victims with bullets using a caliber .9mm, caliber .45 pistol and caliber 5.56 rifle while inside their house in Barangay (village) Capaculan at around 9:20 p.m.

Police Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said the motive of the shooting is still unknown.

Investigation is ongoing.
