Robredo volunteers laud her participation in presidential interview
MANILA, Philippines — Volunteers for Vice President Leni Robredo’s presidential bid expressed their admiration for her participation in the presidential interviews conducted by GMA Network’s broadcast journalist Jessica Soho.
“Lubos ang aming paghanga kay Vice President Leni Robredo sa kanyang paglahok sa katatapos lang na “The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews” ng GMA 7 kung saan diretsahan at matapat niyang sinagot ang maiinit na mga tanong at isyung ipinupukol sa kanyang kandidatura,” Team Leni Robredo (TLR), the volunteer arm of the people’s campaign for Robredo’s bid for the presidency, said in a statement on Sunday.
(We greatly admire Vice President Leni Robredo for her participation in the recently concluded “The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews” of GMA 7 where she directly and honestly answered the hot issues hounding her candidacy.)
“Tunay ngang matatawag na isang People’s Campaign ang kampanya para kay VP Leni dahil pawang kaming mga taga-suporta niya ang nagsasagawa ng sari sarili naming efforts para himukin ang ating mga kababayan na siya ang iboto sa darating na halalan,” the group added.
(The campaign for VP Leni can truly be called the People’s Campaign because we, supporters, are conducting our own efforts to encourage our fellow citizens to vote for her in the upcoming polls.)
Echoing Robredo’s statement in the interview, the group said that they are holding crowdfundings for the vice president’s campaign while ensuring that it is not violative of the law.
“Ang nalakap naming donasyon ay iginugugol sa aming volunteer efforts online at on ground,” they said.
(Our collected donations are allotted for our volunteer efforts online and on the ground.)
TLR also expressed complete faith in Robredo’s capabilities.
“Buo ang aming paniniwala sa kanyang kakayahan at hindi rin matatawaran ang pagkakaisang ipinapamalas ng mga Kakampinks nationwide. Ika nga ni VP Leni, ‘Lahat nag-uumpisa sa pagiging mabuting halimbawa’ at iyon ang ginagawa namin ngayon,” the volunteers shared.
(Our faith in her is whole and the unity exemplified by kakampinks nationwide cannot go unnoticed. Like what VP Leni said, everything starts with being good example, and this is what we’re doing now.)
Kakampinks—a combination of “kakampi” or ally, and pink which is Robredo’s campaign color—is the term used to refer to Robredo’s supporters.
“Magsisimula pa lang ang laban sa pormal na pag-uumpisa ng campaign period pero sinisigurado naming gagawin namin ang aming makakaya para suportahan siya nang sa gayon ay makamit ng Pilipino ang gobyernong tapat at sa ilalim ng kanyang pamumuno, maiangat ang buhay nating lahat,” they added.
(The fight will begin during the formal start of the campaign period and we ensure that we will do what we can to support her so that Filipinos would achieve an honest government, and under her leadership, our lives will be better.)
Robredo, along with presidential aspirants Senators Panfilo Lacson and Manny Pacquiao, and Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno accepted the invitation for the “The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews.”
Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declined to participate as he believes Soho is “biased against the Marcoses.”
