Brazil sees 157,393 coronavirus cases as Omicron surges

BRASILIA — Brazil recorded 157,393 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, with 238 deaths, the Health Ministry said on Saturday, as the Omicron variant sweeps the country.

Brazil has now recorded a total of nearly 24 million cases since the pandemic began, with 622,801 total deaths, Health Ministry data show.
