Active COVID-19 cases in Zambales up by 250% in 1 week

The number of active cases in this province soared by over 250 percent or more than triple compared to the cases recorded a week ago.

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The number of active cases in this province soared by over 250 percent or more than triple compared to the cases recorded a week ago.

Latest data from the provincial health office showed that from 65 active cases on Jan. 5, the province’s active cases rose to 232 on Wednesday, Jan. 12.

The recovery rate during the same period was also low at 0.08 percent as only eight patients recovered from the disease.

Since 2020, the province has already recorded at least 10,113 COVID-19 cases, 9,654 of which had already recovered and 610 had died.

Only 61 percent of the target population or 278,004 residents in the province are fully vaccinated against the viral disease.
