Man nabbed for stealing 18 sacks of court case records in Batangas

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested a man for stealing 18 sacks of case records from the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 83 in Tanauan City, Batangas.

According to a spot report from the Philippine National Police (PNP), a certain John Carlo V. Lumbres “forcibly opened and destroyed” the jalousie window of the staff room where the case records were located.

He was “caught in the act taking away sacks of case records” of the RTC Branch 83. He was onboard a tricycle, the PNP said.

Lumbres was later apprehended and charged with robbery on Saturday after authorities conducted a follow-up operation.

Authorities have recovered 18 sacks of case records from the RTC Branch 83.

The suspect and the recovered stolen items were turned over to the Tanauan City Police Station for proper disposition.
