2 construction workers found dead in irrigation canal in Cotabato town

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato, Philippines — Two construction workers in Mlang town, Cotabato province were found dead floating in an irrigation canal on Friday.
Bernardo Tayong, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer of Mlang, identified the two as a certain Boboy,of Barangay San Vicente in Makilala town and Nino Tamunan of Magpet town.
Some residents of Barangay Buayan discovered their bodies on Friday morning and immediately reported them to authorities.
Tayong said the two had head injuries and a motorcycle was fished out of the irrigation canal not far from their dead bodies.
According to Tayong, the duo reportedly came from a post-New Year party thrown by their employer the night before.
He said one possibility being investigated is that they could have been on their way to the construction barracks when they fell into the canal.
