CITY OF MALOLOS––Five towns in Bulacan province have recorded zero active COVID-19 cases but officials on Friday called on residents not to let their guard down since the threat of the more contagious Omicron variant of the virus remains.

Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis, Bulacan COVID-19 task force vice-chair, identified the localities with no active infections as of Wednesday, Dec. 22, as Guiguinto, Pulilan, Bustos, Calumpit, and Norzagaray.

Celis attributed the zero cases to the residents’ compliance with safety measures and the high vaccination rate in the province.

But she warned that cases could rise again during the holidays if people fail to observe minimum health protocols.

Guiguinto Mayor Ambrosio Cruz Jr. said their extensive vaccination rollout was the key to achieving zero cases but cautioned residents against a spike after the Christmas break.
