MANILA, Philippines — The upcoming 2022 presidential elections appears to be headed towards a showdown between Vice President Leni Robredo and former senator Bongbong Marcos, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Lawyer and Robredo’s spokesman Barry Gutierrez said in a statement that the increase in Robredo’s numbers, according to the latest Pulse Asia survey, affirmed the rally of support towards her.

“The 12 point jump in VP Leni’s numbers, which more than doubles her results from the last survey, is definitive affirmation of the energy and momentum of the people’s campaign that emerged following her declaration of candidacy on October 7,” he said.

“2022 is now clearly a Robredo versus Marcos contest,” he added.
