Classes, work suspended due to Typhoon Odette
MANILA, Philippines — Several cities and provinces have suspended work and classes in their respective areas on Thursday due to Typhoon Odette.
Classes in the following areas are suspended starting Thursday:
Iloilo City (all levels)
Bacolod City (face-to-face classes at Alangilan National High School)
Bohol (all levels)
Eastern Samar (all levels)
Meanwhile, work in government offices in the following areas are also suspended starting on Thursday:
Bacolod
Eastern Samar
Typhoon Odette, located 265 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, is experiencing a “rapid intensification” as it packs maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, with gustiness of up to 185 kph, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Pagasa hoisted Signal No 3 in eight areas; placed 26 areas under Signal No. 2; and 18 areas under Signal No. 1.
