PH gets Germany’s donation of 2.8 million more doses COVID-19 vaccines

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines received Germany’s donation of 2.8 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, according to the National Task Force Against COVID-19.

The 2,840,100 doses are part of Germany’s donation of 3,696,900 doses. The 856,800 doses arrived in the afternoon.

The shots were delivered by Qatar Airways flight QR928, which landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Terminal 3 at around 10 p.m.

With this shipment, the Philippines got over 10 million COVID-19 vaccines this day, the highest single-day vaccine arrivals.

This afternoon, some four million anti-COVID shots — donated by the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands — reached the country.

Meanwhile, about one million and 3.3 million COVID-19 vaccine jabs, procured by the government and the private sector respectively, likewise arrived in the evening.

As of Dec. 14, a total of 166,851,720 doses of various COVID-19 vaccines have been transported to the Philippines since deliveries started in February.
