MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Surigao del Norte on Wednesday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The epicenter of the quake was located 56 km northeast of Burgos, Surigao Del Norte, and was recorded at exactly 9:11 p.m.
The quake was felt strongest in Burgos at Intensity II.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of only 17 km.
No reports of damage caused by the earthquake are expected. But Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks.
