Another village chief gunned down in Nueva Ecija

SANTA ROSA, Nueva Ecija––A 52-year-old village chief in this town was gunned down Wednesday by assailants on a motorcycle in front of his house, police said.

Investigators said Emiliano Muncal, chair of Barangay Inspector, was the second village head killed in Nueva Ecija in one month.

Initial investigation showed that Muncal came from the barangay hall and was about to park his motorcycle in front of his house when the assailants shot him at 7:19 p.m.

The gunmen fled towards the direction of Sta. Rosa-Tarlac Road (Provincial Road), police said.

Muncal suffered multiple bullet wounds in different parts of his body and died while being treated in a hospital in Cabanatuan City.

On Nov. 5, still-unidentified men shot dead Barangay Chair Zoilo de Belen of Lambakin in Jaen town.
