MANILA, Philippines — Presidential aspirant Senator Panfilo Lacson on Saturday challenged voters to look for a tandem who is more determined to fight corruption than he and his running mate Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
“Ang challenge lang namin: Find us a tandem na mas determined kaysa sa aming dalawa to address the issue ng corruption based on track record, based on what we have done already, and then probably baka magbago ang isip namin, baka sila ang iboto namin,” Lacson said during a press conference.
(Our challenge: Find us a tandem that is more determined than the two of us to address the issue of corruption based on track record, based on what we have done already, and then probably, we may change our minds, and we may vote for them.)
Lacson pledged that he and Sotto will not be involved in corruption because they have already overcome and turned down temptations.
“Pero this time around, sa laki ng hinaharap nating problema, ‘pag ang isyu talaga corruption, ‘yung mga malalaking kotong, lalo na doon sa mga proyekto ng gobyerno, ‘yung pang-araw-araw na pakikipag-transact ng ating mga kababayan sa mga ahensya ng gobyerno, ‘yan talagang i-a-address namin ‘yan at pwede namin talaga ipangako sa inyo na walang kakurap-kurap na kaya naming gawin kasi ginagawa namin,” he said.

“Kami sa liderato ni Senate President, ano, marami kaming mga napagdaanan na mga tukso at ito ay pinaglabanan namin at sabihin natin talagang nakayanan naming labanan,” he added.

In October, Lacson revealed that the culture of corruption in the law enforcement sector has returned amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
