San Juan logs record-low 16 active cases; exceeds vaccination of target population

San Juan City logged its all-time low 16 active COVID-19 cases and over 200-percent vaccination of its target population against the coronavirus, Mayor Francis Zamora reported on Saturday.

MANILA, Philippines — San Juan City logged its all-time low 16 active COVID-19 cases and over 200-percent vaccination of its target population against the coronavirus, Mayor Francis Zamora reported on Saturday.

“As of yesterday, San Juan City now has only 16 active cases and has already vaccinated 242% of its target population,” Zamora said in a statement.

“This is the lowest number of cases we have recorded ever since COVID-19 started in March of 2020,” he added.

Also this Saturday, the city government rolled out the administration of booster shots for qualified essential workers and the indigent population.

Individuals who are eligible are those above 18 years old whose second dose is already beyond six months for all vaccine brands except Janssen.

Recipients of the single-dose Janssen vaccine may get their booster shot after three months from their inoculation.

Injection of booster dose for health workers, senior citizens, and select persons with comorbidities has likewise begun earlier.

Based on the Department of Health’s data, 37,568,088 individuals are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Of which, 443,985 have received a booster dose as of December 3.

The health agency also recorded 544 fresh COVID-19 infections, driving the active cases to 14,977 on Friday.
