Charges filed against suspect in MRT-3 rock-throwing incident
MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have filed charges against a man who allegedly threw a rock at a coach of the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) over the weekend that left a train window damaged and a passenger injured.
Appropriate charges were filed against the suspect,” MRT-3 Director for Operations Michael Capati told Inquirer.net over Viber on Tuesday.
The management of the MRT-3 earlier identified the suspect as Lester Rodriguez who was arrested on Sunday evening in Pasay City.
Capati also said that the passenger who was hurt in the incident has already been discharged from the hospital and is now “doing okay.”
On Saturday, Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade expressed his outrage over the incident on Facebook, adding that the perpetrator should be placed behind bars. He reported that a passenger of MRT-3 was hurt after a rock was thrown at the coach as the MRT-3 train was traveling to Magallanes Station.
