MANILA, Philippines — Senator Francis Pangilinan became the second opposition senator to recently fall victim to grocery orders scam after P95,000 worth of frozen meat and wine he did not order were almost delivered to his office.
“Mayroong natanggap ang aming opisina sa Senado na mensahe na magde-deliver daw ng frozen meat at wine na nagkakahalaga ng P90,000,” Pangilinan said in a statement.
(Our office received a message informing us of the delivery of P90,000 worth of frozen meat and wine.)
“Fake po yung order. Buti na lang hindi pa na-deliver,” he added.
(This is a fake order. Good thing the items have yet to be delivered.)
Aside from Pangilinan, Senator Risa Hontiveros’ name and office address was also recently used for the delivery of P18,000 worth of food items from a lechon restaurant.
Vice President Leni Robredo’s office also received P100,000 worth of grocery items she did not order on a cash-on-delivery or COD scheme.
“Pakiusap po sa mga gumagawa nito, hirap na po ang ating mga kababayan sa pandemya, huwag nang manloko pa,” Pangilinan went on.
(To those behind this, our countrymen are already struggling amid the pandemic, stop duping them.)
