MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture (DA) has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Asia Pacific College (APC) to strengthen the department’s information technology development program.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar and APC President Dr. Teresita Medado inked the deal on Monday.

Under the partnership, APC will provide technical expertise and specialized training to DA personnel for one year.

The private tertiary institution is also in charge of conducting multidisciplinary research projects; and developing systems and applications for farm digitization, ease of doing business, transparency, and digital transformation.

“This is a big step in our efforts to engage the youth in transforming Philippine agriculture,” Dar said in a statement posted on Facebook.

He added that by embarking on this initiative, APC has committed to incorporate “data-driven digital technology” in the country’s food systems, while supporting youth-oriented programs.

For him, the partnership illustrates the synergy between educational institutions and national agencies, which are working together for nation-building.
