Robredo’s office gets P100K worth of sham orders; rep smells fear from rival
MANILA, Philippines — The office of Vice President Leni Robredo was flooded Monday with orders of around P100,000 worth of grocery items she seemed to have never ordered. Her spokesperson could not help but only surmise that this act could be the work of cowards.
In a tweet on Monday, lawyer and Office of the Vice President (OVP) spokesperson Barry Gutierrez revealed that multiple orders naming Robredo as “client” were made through an online grocery app and delivered to their headquarters in New Manila, Quezon City, on a cash-on-delivery or COD scheme.
This incident led Gutierrez to wonder why some people would go to such great lengths just to inconvenience other people.
Guitierrez also thought that the trick could be the work of people who are scared of the presidential aspirant’s growing chance in the May 2022 elections.
“May nagpanggap na si VP Leni at nag multiple orders ng abot P100K+ sa Metromart. Pinadeliver sa OVP na COD. Hindi na inisip ang mga delivery rider na hinassle at inaksaya ang oras,” he said.

(Are they scared of us this much? We’ll just let this cheap act pass. Fight!)

In another statement, Gutierrez said they have talked with Metromart to cancel the orders and have the items returned. He also said they asked that riders who delivered the goods be spared from any charges.
He further said that they have obtained the mobile number used to make the orders, and are already in discussions for possible legal actions.
“We were able to arrange with Metromart for the orders to be canceled and the items returned. We specifically insisted that nothing be charged to the delivery riders. We are super thankful to them for their assistance and cooperation,” Gutierrez said.
“We were able to get the number used to book the deliveries, and are investigating further. There has been some initial consultation with our lawyers, but specific options will be discussed once we get more information on who may be responsible,” he added.
The riders, meanwhile, got a token from Robredo to compensate for the hours lost while they fix the bogus transaction.
“VP Leni gave the riders something to compensate them for the two hours they lost because of this scam,” Gutierrez noted.
