PH logs 1,190 new COVID-19 infections; active cases down to 23,846
MANILA, Philippines — Total active COVID-19 cases in the country has dropped to 23,846 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,759 new recoveries and 1,190 new infections on Wednesday.
The figures bring the total confirmed COVID-19 infections in the country to 2,820,494, and total recoveries to 2,750,531.
The positivity rate is currently at 3.5 percent in the 33,567 individuals tested — this is slightly above Tuesday’s 3.2 percent but remains below 5 percent which, according to the World Health Organization, indicates a controlled transmission of the virus.
The total number of individuals tested also remains relatively low compared to the past few weeks.
Meanwhile, Of the 23,846 currently afflicted with the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the majority, or 58.1 percent are only mild cases, 5.2 percent are asymptomatic, 19.60 percent are moderate, 12 percent are severe, and 5 percent are critical.
Meanwhile, the country’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 46,117 as the DOH logged 309 new deaths.
The DOH added that only one laboratory was not able to submit their data in the total tests conducted on November 15. These laboratories contribute, on average, 0.1 percent of samples tested and 0.1 percent of positive individuals.
The health agency also said that 37 duplicates were removed from the total case count — of which 33 were recoveries.
“Moreover, 264 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.
