Albay lawmaker seeking re-election unopposed after sole opponent withdraws

Comelec

LIGAO CITY––Reno Lim, a businessman and former third district representative, has withdrawn his candidacy, leaving the re-election bid of Rep. Fernando Cabredo unopposed.

“On November 16, around 4:40 in the afternoon, Lim who is a candidate for House of Representative for the 3rd district of Albay personally appeared at Provincial Comelec Office and withdrew his COC,” said lawyer Maria Aurea Bo-Bunao, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Albay supervisor.

She said that on Nov. 15, the last day set by the Comelec for withdrawal and substitution of candidacies in the 2022 elections, no other candidates showed up.

“We’re really glad to hear about the information. With that there’s surety that all the programs of Congressman Fernando for the 3rd district of Albay will be continued,” Shai Cabredo, the lawmaker’s chief-of-staff, said in a text message.
