MANILA, Philippines — Amid the recent developments in the country’s political scene, Senator Panfilo Lacson and his running mate Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Sunday said they remain focused on their programs.
During a press conference in Pampanga, the tandem was asked for their reaction to the actions of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and that of Senator Bong Go to gun for vice president and president, respectively.
“Kami ni Senate President (We are), very consistent kami rito (here). We don’t comment on our potential rivals in the May 2022 elections. Ang pokus lang namin (Our focus) is to present ourselves, our platforms, ‘yung aming (our) roadmap in the next six years,” presidential aspirant Lacson said.
For his part, vice presidential aspirant Sotto said it does not matter who else is running as they are confident of their programs being the answers to the country’s problems.
“We have decided as early as June, July this year that our programs and platforms are the answers to the problems of the country. It does not matter to us who else is running. That has been our formula, noon pa man hanggang ngayon (from then on),” Sotto said.
“Kahit sino mag-file, hindi namin talaga iniintindi. Ang iniintindi namin ‘yung programa namin, ‘yung plataporma namin, ‘yung gusto naming ihain sa mga kababayan natin na kapag kami ay binigyan niyo ng pagkakataon, alam naming makaka-deliver kami,” he added.
(Whoever files, we do not mind. What we’re focusing on are our programs, platforms, and projects for Filipinos. If given a chance, I know that we can deliver.)
“Hindi kami nanghuhula dito sa pinasukan namin. Alam namin ‘yung mga problema, alam din namin ‘yung dapat gawing solusyon,” he went on.
(We do not guess here. We know the problems and we know the solutions.)
The tandem of Lacson and Sotto is the first to formally declare bids for the upcoming elections.
