DZIQ: Land dispute reason for radio anchor’s slay, husband claims
MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE 2) A land dispute may be the reason behind the killing of a radio news anchor in Malabon Thursday, her husband told Radyo Inquirer Thursday.
Juan Sumera, husband of Len Flores Sumera, said his wife was one of the beneficiaries of a 4.2 hectare land, which was to be distributed to about 600 families.
Len Sumera, an anchor of Arangkada 1530 over DZME, was also the president of the Silonian Neighborhood Association.
The suspect, whom Juan Sumera did not identify, said that the individual had sought a temporary restraining order to stop the distribution of the certificates of ownership to the families.
He said that on Monday, the Malabon court ruled in favour of Len Sumera.
The broadcaster was on her way to work when she was shot dead by an unidentified assailant.
