/ 05:10 AM November 11, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — Indigent senior citizens will receive their social pension every three months instead of the current schedule of every six months starting next year, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Tuesday.

Under Memorandum Circular No. 16, The DSWD will start to release the P1,500 pension to beneficiaries from January-March, April-June, July-September and October-December of each year.

Currently, payouts are facilitated by the agency’s special disbursing officers in coordination with the beneficiaries’ respective local governments.

The DSWD is still in talks with the Land Bank of the Philippines regarding the application, production and actual implementation of cash cards for the senior citizens.

As of September, the DSWD said it had disbursed social pension to more than 3.07 million beneficiaries or 80.19 percent of its total target of beneficiaries for 2021.
