American arrested in Tuguegarao airport for cracking bomb joke

MANILA, Philippines — An American was arrested in Tuguegarao last Friday for making a bomb joke, according to a Facebook post by the Cagayan provincial government.

The man was identified as George Adrien Favarielle from New Jersey, according to Maj. Junvie Velasco,  chief of Tuguegarao City Police Airport.

Favarielle, who was married to a Filipino, made the remark while officials of Cebu Pacific were inspecting their baggage, prompting the arrest.

The foreigner went to the country to attend the birthday celebration of his mother-in-law and was set to return to the United States on Friday.
