Should Sara change her mind, she’ll vie for presidency, not VP — Bato

Davao Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio would be eyeing the presidency and nothing less, if ever she changes her mind, says Sen. Bato dela Rosa.

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio would be eyeing the presidency and nothing less, if ever she changes her mind, according to Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

That is according to presidential aspirant Dela Rosa, who made the reaction amid circulating rumors that Duterte-Carpio could possibly be the vice president of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

It can be recalled that Duterte-Carpio and Marcos Jr. met in Cebu last week during the birth anniversary celebration of Tingog Sinirangan party-list Rep. Yedda Romualdez.

“I am not privy to their conversation,” Dela Rosa told radio DWIZ when asked to react to rumors of a Bongbong-Sara tandem.

“Pero alam ko kung sakaling tatakbo si Mayor Inday, presidente ang tatakbuhan niya,” Dela Rosa added.

(But as far as I know, should Mayor Inday run, she would only run for president.)

Dela Rosa said he does not see any reason why Duterte-Carpio would “slide down” to vice presidency.

“Isa pa ah, sa nakikita ko lang, what’s the reason why mag-slide down siya sa VP? Kung ang kanyang pangalan ay namamayagpag sa survey ng mga presidentiables,” Dela Rosa said.

(One more thing, based on my observation, what’s the reason of her sliding down to vice presidency? Especially that her name is dominating the surveys on the presidentiables?)

“I don’t think bise ang tatakbuhan niya, that’s my own opinion lang naman,” he added.

(I don’t think she will run for vice president, that’s my own opinion only.)

Duterte-Carpio did not file a certificate of candidacy for any national post during the filing period, but instead filed for reelection for mayor of Davao City.

Dela Rosa, who is running under PDP-Laban faction of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, recently met Duterte-Carpio to remind her that the substitution deadline nears.

Substitution period ends on November 15.

This, despite dela Rosa’s claims that he was not a mere placeholder for Duterte-Carpio.
