Duterte to lead inauguration of 7 seaport projects in Bohol
TAGBILARAN CITY––President Duterte will lead the simultaneous inauguration Friday afternoon, Oct. 29, of seven completed seaport projects in Bohol province.
This will be Duterte’s fifth visit to the province since he assumed the country’s top post.
Transportation Secretary Art Tugade and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago will accompany Duterte.
The seven seaport projects are in Tagbilaran City, Jagna, Ubay, Tapal, Talibon, Loon, and Maribojoc.
Additional fast craft berths were completed in June in the port of Tagbilaran, which serves as Bohol’s main gateway to the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao.

The port of Ubay, which could accommodate only medium-sized motorized bancas in the past, can now handle medium-sized conventional and roll-on roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessels, as the construction of its reinforced concrete pier was completed in December 2020.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and PPA constructed the port’s back-up area and Ro-Ro ramp at the Tapal Port in Ubay due to the increasing passenger traffic.
The Port of Talibon was rehabilitated with a Ro-Ro ramp, a covered walkway, and a security fence to further provide comfort and convenience to traders and passengers. This port also helps to take the load off Tagbilaran Port in terms of cargo operations.
The DOTr and PPA constructed a new passenger terminal building in the Port of Loon, thus offering more convenience and comfort to sea passengers.
The Maribojoc Rehabilitation and Expansion Project, which was rendered dilapidated by the 2013 Bohol earthquake, was completed in June.
The DOTr said these form part of the 472 commercial and social-tourism port projects completed by the DOTr and PPA since the Duterte administration took over in 2016.
