Eastern Samar police in hot water after firing gun

3 town mayors in E. Samar running unopposedTACLOBAN CITY––A police officer is in hot water Sunday after discharging his firearm in Balangiga town, Eastern Samar.

Reports reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) regional headquarters in Palo town, Leyte, said Corporal Alexander Salazar, 43, confronted and threatened one Abby Abrogar for an unknown reason.

The incident that took place around 2 p.m. in Barangay 01, where the two reside, followed with the police officer firing his service firearm, a caliber-9 mm Beretta.

No one was hurt in this incident.

Salazar, assigned at the police station of Hernani town, also in Eastern Samar, was arrested at his residence.

Seized from his possession were two magazines of a caliber 9-mm gun and 13 live ammunition.

The policeman was detained at the Balangiga lock-up facility pending the filing of charges against him.
