MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the country will experience cloudy skies and rainy weather on Sunday due to a low-pressure area embedded in the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), with other weather systems prevailing in other parts of the country, the state weather service said on Saturday.

Pagasa said a low-pressure area that was embedded along the ITCZ was detected 155 kilometers west-northwest of Zamboanga City.

“Patuloy na apektado ng malaking bahagi ng bansa ng ITCZ, mayroon ditong nakapaloob na isang low pressure area,” weather specialist Joey Figuracion said in a public weather forecast.

“Maghahatid pa din ito ng kalat-kalat na pag-ulan o magiging factor ito na maulan pa din ang ilang bahagi ng ating bansa,” Figuracion said, referring to the LPA.

(This will bring scattered rains or it will also become a factor of the rainy season in parts of the country.)

Other weather systems like the tail end of a frontal system or shear line, as well as the northeasterly wind flow, will also affect many parts of Luzon, according to Pagasa.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), Western Visayas, and the Bangsamoro region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers due to the LPA embedded in the ITCZ.

The Bicol Region, Aurora, and Quezon will also experience similar weather conditions due to the shear line or the tail end of a frontal system.

The northeasterly wind flow will also bring light rains in Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, according to Pagasa.

Meanwhile, Pagasa raised a gale warning on the seaboards of Northern Luzon which will experience rough sea conditions with up to 4.5 meters of waves due to the northeasterly wind flow.
